The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Application Support Developer to support our growing IT and Development teams. This role will act as a key intermediary between the development team and day-to-day operational challenges, handling bug fixes, feature requests, and application-level issues to shield the developers from interruptions. You’ll work on maintaining and improving critical systems that support our innovative legal conveyancing solutions while being exposed to cutting-edge technologies and opportunities for professional growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Bug & Feature Request Management: Serve as the first point of contact for application-related issues, ensuring prompt resolution or escalation where necessary.
  • Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Implement monitoring tools to proactively detect and address system and application-level issues, maintaining uptime and performance.
  • Incident Management: Rapidly diagnose and resolve system incidents, minimizing downtime and user disruption.
  • Automation & Scripting: Develop and deploy scripts to streamline routine tasks, automate fixes for common issues, and enhance system reliability.
  • Collaboration with Development Team: Work closely with developers to understand system requirements and deliver solutions that align with the company’s strategic goals.
  • Compliance & Security: Maintain adherence to security standards, including Cyber Essentials Plus and ISO27001, ensuring GDPR and data protection compliance.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Create and maintain clear documentation of processes, tools, and resolutions to improve team efficiency and knowledge sharing.
  • Immediate System Improvements: Number of resolved “quick wins” issues, such as minor performance bottlenecks or UI/UX bugs.
  • Continuous Learning and Development: Stay updated with the latest AWS technologies and related tools, proactively applying new skills to enhance the company’s systems and processes. This includes identifying opportunities to implement cutting-edge solutions that align with business goals.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong technical background, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. We’re looking for:

  • 3+ years of experience in IT Operations, Application Support, Development, or related roles, ideally within a cloud-based environment.
  • Hands-on expertise with AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, Lambda, VPC, RDS).
  • Proficiency with monitoring tools like CloudWatch, Grafana, or Datadog.
  • Solid skills in programming languages like Java, JavaScript, Python, Bash, or PowerShell for debugging and task automation.
  • Experience managing tickets and workflows using Jira or similar tools.
  • Strong Linux administration skills, including troubleshooting and shell scripting.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

Why Join Us?

We offer a rewarding career with a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package, including:

  • Flexible working arrangements to suit your lifestyle.
  • Generous leave policies, including additional leave for your birthday month.
  • Company sick pay and access to employee discount schemes.
  • Ongoing training, development, and recognition programs.
  • A supportive and fun team environment, with regular collaboration and charity events.
  • Professional Development Support – We believe in fostering growth and will fully support your training and development in AWS and related technologies. This includes access to certification programs of your choosing, online courses, and workshops to advance your expertise and career.
